Introduction

Thought Shelf helps you make decisions. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

We collect minimal data to provide and improve our service:

Anonymous device identifier (a randomly generated ID stored on your device)
Usage counts (how many times you've used AI analysis features)
Timestamps of when analyses were run
Anonymous engagement milestones (e.g. whether you created a dilemma or used analysis — never the content itself)

We do NOT collect: your name, email, location, IP address, or any content you enter (dilemmas, options, considerations, or any personal text).

By default, all your decision content (dilemmas, options, considerations, values, goals) is stored locally on your device
If you choose to share a dilemma, only that dilemma is uploaded to the cloud. You can remove it anytime.
Shared dilemmas are only accessible to people you give the link to
The anonymous device ID cannot be used to identify you personally

When you use the AI analysis feature, your dilemma content is sent to OpenAI for processing
This data is used solely to generate alignment suggestions and is not stored by us
OpenAI processes data according to their own privacy policy

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Anonymous usage data is retained to manage free tier limits
You can delete all local data from the app's Profile settings at any time
This removes all your decisions and preferences from your device
Server-side deletion requests are processed within 30 days in accordance with applicable data protection laws. In most cases, deletion occurs immediately.
Certain records may be retained where legally required (for example, transaction records for accounting or fraud prevention). These records do not contain your dilemmas or personal content.

This app is not intended for children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the app and on this page.
